In Baltimore; contact Maura @ Baltimore Yoga Village

June 13 1:00-3:00
Ashtanga Yoga is a sequence of flowing postures that focus particularly on the movement of the breath, the gaze and the places where you gather strength or focus on called bandhas. It is a method that cleanses the body and helps you to concentrate and clears your mind. Although the postures seem difficult , over time they become very natural and easy. But until that time we will find modifications so that you can practice the system safely and correctly. All levels are welcome, but be prepared for an athletic practice

WORKSHOPS: In Philadelphia

Thursday evening: Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, 6 – 7:30 pm, each session: $ 20 (pre-registration required)

Kundalini-Vinyasa is a unique combination of vinyasa stretching, pranayama, chanting, and meditation. Using the format of a vinyasa flow we will open the body to more easily take our seat in a pranayama or chanting posture to still the mind and experience the “web of Love and Light” that surrounds us. This will be a fun, and physically challening practice to enrich and enliven your body, mind, and spirit! All levels.

Kundalini is the ‘energy’ that is evoked from yoga practices. That is – practices that bring us from the physical mundane world into the spiritual ethereal and back again.

In this 2 hour workshop we will explore the Ashtanga Primary series in terms of our basic Constitutions of Vata , Pitta and Kapha.

Primary Series is also called “Yoga Chikitsa” or Yoga Therapy for its healing and therapeutic benefits. In order to get the full benefits of this practice there are a few points of concentration that need to be addressed during practice. These ‘points’ can be adjusted depending on what type of constitution you are. As we move through the Primary series Mary will help bring to light the healing qualities of the postures and series as well as metaphors and stories to help you understand and experience the larger picture of Ashtanga Yoga.
